Millennial GinkgoMon Jul 19 2022 The Millennium Ginkgo Tree - Wenli Quzhou Project aims to create the tallest, most iconic, and most representative building complex in the central urban area of Quzhou City, showcasing the city's spirit and character. The project is located at the intersection of the city's functional axis and the central ecological belt, adjacent to urban landscape nodes such as Wenli Lake. By shaping the gateway image of Quzhou and the skyline of the High-Speed Rail New Town, the project aspires to collaborate with surrounding landmark buildings to establish a sequence of iconic architectural spaces and a pioneering new urban landscape.
Five hundred years ago, descendants of Confucius migrated south to present-day Quzhou and planted two ginkgo trees at the Confucius Ancestral Temple, as Confucius was fond of teaching under ginkgo trees, thus earning the teaching site the name "Ginkgo Platform." The ginkgo trees in front of the temple still stand tall today.  As golden leaves fall and scatter, the scene evokes vivid memories of Confucius imparting wisdom. Despite the passage of time, the two ginkgo trees seem to have continuously accompanied and protected this land and its descendants.  The front hall and main hall of the Confucius Temple bear the inscriptions "Same Source of Si and Zhe" and "Role Model for All Generations," symbolizing the enduring connection and teachings of the same lineage, regardless of the north-south divide or the passage of millennia. The ginkgo tree is a witness to history, a guardian of the people, and a unique golden sentiment in Quzhou culture. Today, 500 years later, two new "ginkgo trees" rise again on the west bank of Wenli Lake. These skyscrapers are also symbols of Quzhou's culture. At Quzhou West Station, opening the door to a new era, the two ginkgo trees will stand tall for another millennium, guarding Quzhou, caring for the people, welcoming distant guests, supporting the populace, observing the bustling market, and gazing at the city's prosperity.
